Removed 3 Lipoma's at home yesterday.

OK firstly i know this is not recommended.

but, I removed 3 lipoma's over the last few days at home, which were really bothering me. I probably have about 15 in total, 3 about 1.5 inches 1 about 2 inches the rest smaller and mostly unnoticeable. On my forearms, legs above the knees, and abs.

I purchased the following Surgical Scalpel with Blade 15's, sterile swabs, surgical solution and Liquiband Tissue Adhesive (glue).

The first one i did was on my forearm, it took a while to go through the skin, but really there was no pain and I was able to squeeze out about 1 inch worth of fatty tumour like you see in the youtube videos, I then cleaned up and glued the wound, the cut in my forearm was 4mm, so quite small.

The second, was in the middle of my abs it was about 1.5 inches, this one took me about 2 hours (i think because it was difficult to squeeze) to remove, again I was able to get it all out through a 4mm cut and a hell of alot of squeezing, I squeezed so hard I could break down the lipoma but my skin on the abs is now a little bruised with finger marks.

The third was down one side of my abs, it was a huge one about 2 inches but what i did with this one, was to use the scalpel and break down the lipoma while pinching the tumour from underneath, i was able to remove this massive lipoma in about 20 minutes with no bruising and a little squeezing and a 4mm cut now closed with the glue.

I know you don't recommend doing this, but this is what I did in order to reduce any possible scaring.

You must be very brave. Are you sure there was no pain ? How are they healing up ? Do you have any pictures of the incisions ?

I'm not brave, really there is little or no pain I removed a 2 inch lipoma from my leg last night again through a tiny cut that is now glued with little or no squeezing I broke up the lipoma with the scalpel just below the cut I had made, it took about an hour as I took my time as I was worried I might be near a vein. Anyway it was all good and feel really very happy now. I'll post some pics in the next few days. I did video the first one but only at the end when I was squeezing out the lipoma so nothing new to see here. But with the bigger ones I've broken down the lipoma below the skin in order to have a tiny cut, then squeeze it through the hole.

This is the first one on my arm, as per what you see in the youtube videos. 4mm cut then squeeze, then clamped tight and glued. 1 inch lipoma removed.

This is the second and third one, same cut, the middle one 1.5 inches was difficult to squeeze hence the marks, but the third one which was alot bigger say 2 inches I did alot more cutting just below the surface hence there is not much bruising. Again both through a 4mm cut.

This one i did last night on my leg, it was quite big say 2 inches, a 4mm cut, then i used the scalpel very carefully to break up the lipoma below the skin, then lightly squeezed out, you can just make out the cut the rest is the glue and a little blood.

Ill post more pics after a week, when the glue comes off, hopefully the cuts should be barely visible.

Just a bit of background, I'm from the UK. My first lipoma I can remember having was when I was 13ish, i thought i had cancer! Its still on my leg but not very noticeable, ill probably remove next week as have more sterile swabs coming. Im in my 40's now, so have lived with them for 30 years. Ive probably got 3 or 4 smaller less noticeable ones that I may remove next week as well.

Did you ice to disinfect the area you are cutting?
Where did you order Surgical Scalpel Blade No.15?
Liquiband Tissue Adhesive is crazy expensive on Amazon. How much does that cost in UK?

You did a good job. You didn't have someone to watch over you in case something goes wrong?

I used ice, I got everything cheap on ebay. My wife was around but not watching. Liquiband is £12.60 on ebay for .5g's or you can get 10 for between £70-£100 here in the UK.

When I was squeezing my first and second lipoma, I remember that at times they would snap and crack and seem to break apart, you can see by the marks on my chest I was squeezing quite hard, which kinda makes me think that it may be possible to break one up without cutting the skin. Also I have a small lipoma about half a centimetre which would be difficult to squeeze as quite small, that is a little noticeable under my chest and I'm going get a hypodermic needle and cut through the lipoma a few hundred times to see what happens, failing that ill just cut the skin I think i can get away with a 3mm cut and remove. Ive removed 4 so far, and ive got 4 more smaller ones to go.

Although I'm not recommending doing this by your own I'm pleased you are sharing this with us. The afte-images were nice to see. I hope we would have seen the before pics as well.

This goes to show that if you collect enough information, you can do pretty much anything in life. One shouldn't just jump into cutting herself/himself but if you know what you are doing then why not? Of course you have to know about the disinfection methods, the routes of major blood vessels, nerves and the basic anatomics, etc. It's not for everyone but people are doing it - and not dying. I'm sure many are also seriously hurting themselves, perhaps even dying. So please consider and research the subject before even considering something like this!

BTW It looks like you did a superb job compared to the plastic surgeon who cut few of my lipomas.

The squeeze technique is definitely the way to go; cutting a small hole and squeezing the lipoma out from that.

Again, the squeeze technique works only for the pretty small (perhaps less than 2 inches) encapsulated and solid lipomas.

OK this is number 5, just below my right chest. It was about 1cm. I got away with a tiny 3mm cut, I cut the tumor below the skin to make it easier to come out.

This reminds me of a small lipoma I had on my left forearm a few years ago, about 1/4-1/2 inch. I don't have much fat on me, so even something that small, especially on my forearm, really stuck out a lot. I was so frustrated by it one day that I squeezed the hell out of it and pushed it around as much as I could, literally squeezing with all my strength. The morning after, it was gone. Of course there was a nice little bruise, but other than that, nothing. It hasn't seemed to show up anywhere else either...

By the way Drav, MAJOR props to you for taking on this task and documenting / communicating it all so well. I know every one of us here is super thankful and excited to see such great results from your pursuit! Thank you!

Ok this is the latest one number 6, 1 inch. It was quite flat and difficult to get out, I think as it was quite old and I had previously flattened with pressure over time. After I had removed it, I discovered that there was 2 small pea sized lipomas very close.

So I went back in the same hole the next day and removed 1 which was above, the other to my right (picture taken through a mirror), I just could not get to it, it just seemed to be too far away!

I decided not to go back in, but it niggled me that it was still there, so I got some of these really tiny hypodermic needles 30g 1/2 inch yellow, then attempted to break it up by cutting the tumour a few hundred times (carefully, using various techniques) I could hear it breaking apart (the end of the needle is hollow and cut at an angle so helps to break away the tumour) similar to what I do with the scalpel, its pretty much gone now (90% reduction) and a day after there is barely any mark as I only punctured the skin in 1 place and iced before and after.

After reading what Danny wrote and what others have said about having sporting injuries that have caused theirs to disappear. I think breaking up the small pea sized ones, they may disappear also, ill keep you informed on what happens to mine, but I can barely feel it now and what remains I will have a go at later.

Just to clarify, the big hole is where the 1inch one was and the 2 others pea sized lipomas. One of which was attacked with the hypodermic.

OK just a quick update, I am healing nicely. I will post some photo's shortly. Under three of the cuts Ive developed a little swelling which I thought might be some unremoved lipoma, bigger than pea size, but I was pretty confident that all was removed and how could I have missed any right below the cut and it would not move away from under the cut skin, anyway, it turned out to be some swelling which has pretty much all but gone now and getting less everyday, but I was worried thinking I might have had to go back in.

Removed 2 more yesterday one on my groin which the night before I had split open internally with some excessive squeezing, so I decided I might as well just remove it as it was a little sore and swollen. I was able to get it out with little or no additional squeezing and through a tiny little hole, closed with liquiband glue. Really looking at it now you would not know Ive been in with the scalpel. Then I removed one on my right leg, probably the first one I ever noticed at 14. Only got 6 tiny ones left which ill remove in due course.

A few things ive learnt is that the horizontal cuts close alot quicker than vertical. The less you squeeze the quicker it is too heal and the less scaring you will have, so I try and cut the lipoma up into small pieces carefully under the skin, and when you close it with the glue just leave it alone for at least a week before reapplying, if you keep fiddling with it and removing the glue and reapplying, it will take longer to heal.

Also I have one on my right forearm that I play with now and gain I can now turn it around 360 degrees anyway Ive split it a few times and it seems to be reducing in size!

I've removed all my Lipoma's bar one, which ill get tomorrow, its on my rib cage.

OK so all gone now. It's a shame you can't get smaller blades, I think I could get away with a 2mm cut if a smaller scalpel blade was available. I've wasted a blade just for this picture, but I have no more to remove .

Anyway here is a picture of my kit. The glue (Liquiband) is brilliant for closing and you can see I still have loads left, you lightly close the wound by hand and apply the glue over the top it bonds instantly like a new layer of skin and lasts long enough for the wound to close, really it's brilliant stuff.

OBTW, I take no drugs, no pain killers, no alcohol, I experience zero pain throughout the whole procedure, each lipoma takes me about 20 minutes to remove. Ive removed 16 in total 2 left thigh , 1 on outside of left knee, odd!, 2 right thigh, 1 on each forearm, 1 on my right rib cage, the rest below chest and abs. Im now back in the gym with my tight Nike Pro combat tops again lol.

So you ice the area, use a surgical solution like Iodine over the area before cutting? Then Cut, remove lipoma. Then do you use like an alcohol swap, peroxide, or anything after removing lipoma before applying the liquid glue?

Just curious how you are cleaning up the area so it doesn't get infected.
