Stubborn Single Lipoma
I am unfamiliar with this site, so I apologize in advance if this is the wrong thread to post on, but it does say "single lipoma". Anyways I have one Lipoma on my forehead (top right) and I have had surgery on this Lipoma twice. Both times my dermatologist failed to completely remove the entire Lipoma so I'm starting to doubt his Lipoma removal abilities. I am also worried that more than 2 surgeries might be pushing it even though the first and second Lipoma surgery were over 2 years apart from each other. Do you guys think I should just leave my Lipoma be or should I just try and find a different specialist to get rid of this Lipoma? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Re: Stubborn Single Lipoma
How large does it grow back when you had it removed the 2nd time?
How much did the dermatologist charge for each surgery?
I'd find a plastic surgeon to remove it.

Re: Stubborn Single Lipoma
The first time it was really big, I don't know what to compare it to, but bigger than a golf ball, each surgery lessened the size, but didn't remove it entirely. I don't know if it is just slowly growing back or if this is just how big it is after surgery. It is currently not too big, it's golf ball sized in width but not in length. I'm also not sure how much it was because my parents had paid for my surgery. If the Lipoma wasn't on my forehead I wouldn't of even bothered with surgery. Would you say plastic surgeons are about the same price as dermatologist surgery?

Re: Stubborn Single Lipoma
The prices can vary drastically so be careful when making an appointment. I would pay anywhere from $300-$600 for taking out a single lipoma but not more. I've heard some pay ridiculous amounts like thousands of dollars for a single lipoma.
Of course it's different if you have multiple lipomas.
I would also think that a dermatologist would know how to completely remove a lipoma but I guess not? Maybe you should ask a plastic surgeon and explain the situation to him/her.
Did the dermatologist mention why there was something left behind? Was it somehow difficult to cut out?

Hi I'm Matt - the creator and owner of this site. I have dozens of small nasty lipomas all over. I've tried many treatments including surgery and Lipostabil injections. Re: Stubborn Single Lipoma
No in fact the second time I came in for surgery he thought it had simply grown back in the same spot, but I told him that it just wasn't completely removed. I mostly go to the dermatologist for my seborrheic dermatitis skin condition, but I thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone by also getting the lipoma removed. If I ever have surgery on the lipoma again I will definitely try and find a qualified plastic surgeon in the price range you had suggested. I noticed you're in Finland so when you say 300-600 do you mean dollars or euros? Also if anyone reading this knows of a good plastic surgeon in the orange county area, preferably Huntington Beach let me know
