large diffuse lipoma

I had a very large diffuse 10cm lipoma removed from my hip. The surgeon sent it off for FISH testing. Does that mean he thinks it's a sarcoma or is it just them being cautious? The surgeon said it was large and difficult to get out.

If you are in the US, they always send it out for biopsy. When it's larger it could be blocked by muscle tissues and blood vessels. Do you need a drain put in since it's left a big hole there?
How long did it take to grow to 10 cm?

I had it done privately in the UK. When I came out of surgery and came around from my GA I had a drain in. It's and a large 4 1/2 inch incision on my hip. I'm very sore still I have been using pain medicine. I honestly don't know how long it took to grow that large. Until it stated hurting I didn't I notice it, I think it had been there for an long time.
