Update child with multiple lipomas
So I previously posted about my son that has multiple lipomas. We have been seeing a pediatric derm at the best hospital in Wisconsin. They are still stumped as to what is going on. Every visit they have been saying"well, only a few new ones" and we have been going every 3 months! They are now saying they are not convinced they are lipomas because they do not look like classic lipomas, whatever that means! A biopsy was previously done (not by them, another dr) and they wanted to do another. I agreed and a did the biopsy again using the punch method. The previous one was done under anesthesia and they also removed a large cluster (which has since grown a few back, and this was done in August) The dr called me with the results and said they are not sure about them being lipomas still because the biopsy showed inflammation, what does this mean?? They did not want to tell me much more until they present his case AGAIN to there derm/scientist people, not sure what they are really called. I have said in a previous post that there is no family history but in the last month I have found out I have a lipoma in my neck that is possibly wrapped around muscle/nerve since I have had pain in that area for 5 years! I was told by 2 other doctors that the lump was just a fair folicle but a derm seemed to understand more and did a biopsy. I have also recently found 2 more smaller ones. So I guess I can now claim a family history of one! Any ideas on why the mass confusion with my son? Is it because he is so young, he is 9 now but I noticed his first one when he was 7 years old. Thanks in advance!
