Why Is It Symmetric? Because It's Not

I have wondered for some time now why is Madelungs Disease symmetric?

Note: Madelungs disease = Benign Symmetric Lipomatosis = Multiple Symmetric Lipomatosis

Well, it turns out that it isn't 1 2 3 literally symmetric but the fat accumulations appear on each side of the body at the same regions. Still it's unknown why?

But it is easy to say from the above images that the diagnosis between Dercum's, FML and Madelungs isn't quite so easy.

Madelungs is usually characterized by an accumulation of nonencapsulated fat that is located in a symmetric manner around the head and shoulder's, rarely affecting the hips and lower limbs.

I think the word symmetric is somewhat misleading.
